Education

I attended Sault College in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario from 1985 to 1991 where I graduated from the following ;

  • Forest Technician Program
  • Parks and Forest Recreation Technology Program
  • Fish and Wildlife Technology Program.

  • I completed two co-operative education placements while attending college, one on Pesticide Use in Urban Parks, another on Greenhouse Management Techniques for Urban Forestry.
  • In 1991 I received a Landscaping and Gardening Diploma through correspondence while attending Sault College.
  • In 1994 I went to Guelph University and completed the Turf Manager's Short Course during the winter.
  • I obtained my Pesticide Land Exterminator Licences Class 1 and 3 in 1988.
  • I obtained my Pesticide Operator's Class 6 Licence in 1993.
  • I keep updated on the latest information through turf grass seminars and symposiums during the off season.

    Employment History

  • Employed at Lake Simcoe Golf and Country Club for two seasons as grounds maintenance worker.

  • Employed by Marvet Lawncare in Sault Ste. Marie as a pesticide applicator. Also applied fertilizers, landscaped and maintained residential properties.

  • Employed for two summers by the City of Sault Ste. Marie Parks Department on the Horticulture crew. Planted annuals, maintained green house plants, landscaped, applied herbicides to park properties.

  • Employed by the Ministry of Natural Resources in Blind River as a Resource Technician, where I did aerial moose inventory work, data inputting and mapping. During another contract I was employed as a Creel Census Technician on two area lakes.

  • Worked at Huron Pines Golf and Country Club in Blind River for two seasons as Assistant to the Greenskeeper. Operated various cutting equipment, responsible for work crew, fertilizing, pesticide application and foreman duties.

  • Started Elliot Lake Lawn Care in 1994.

  • Married over 25 years to Jennifer, with two children, Sarah, and Tamara, Rambo the dog and Jack the cat.
